VGADA Set to Eradicate Drug Abuse in Secondary Schools Presents – Independence from adolescents drug abuse

In line with the Independence Day celebration, Vanguard against Drug Abuse (VGADA) is set to put an end on the incessant report of drug abuse among secondary school students in the country by initiating “Independence from adolescent drug abuse”.

The event which is designated to keep-off on 1st of October, 2018, by 10am will mark the memorable Nigeria Independence Day celebration with secondary school students of the Federal Science and Technical College, Orozo in Abuja Municipal Area Council.

Speaking with news men in Abuja on Friday, 28th September, 2018, VGADA President Dr. Hope Abraham Omeiza stated that:

“This event is tagged ‘Independence from adolescent drug abuse’ because of the recent increase in the incidence of drug abuse among adolescents across the country.

This initiative has come to stay as we partner with various secondary schools in educating our children on the dangers of drug abuse.

VGADA hope that this will lead to cascade of interventions in ensuring that our school children gain independence from drug abuse as this ugly trend do not only pose threat to the individuals who indulge but as well to our democracy and our togetherness as a  nation.”

While commending the Principal and staff of the school, Dr. Hope said VGADA is working with the school management to ensure the success of the program. He also beckons on neighboring communities to support the management of secondary schools within their community in combating drug abuse.
